FLORIDA

We live in Lakeland and love it, but Florida has a lot to offer people. There are many communities, some just for 50+ and others for everyone. The weather is beautiful most of the time ( except when it is raining) but if you enjoy the outdoors ( biking, walking) it is a perfect spot to retire in. I will say it is a bit harder to get dr. apts, maybe because there are so many ‘older’ residents, they are in higher demand than other places. If you live close to Disney you can get a season pass, which is really fun, though you have to be a Disney fan… And no swimming in the ponds, they are filled with gators!

US News & World Report ranked Sarasota and Naples, Florida #5 and #6 respectively for best places to live in the US in 2023-2024. Florida has also been rated the best state for retirees in 2023 based on <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>cost of living, health care, taxes, affordability, quality of life, weather, and culture.”
